Wish List

Below, please find the ongoing needs we are trying to meet as a school.  These are areas in which we continue to seek funding throughout the year to support our mission of providing rigorous educational opportunitiews and preparing our students to become productive, accountable citizens.  Help to make our wishes come true!

Discretionary Funds for Teachers:

Our teachers spend a significant amount of their own money to purchase supplies and prepare their classrooms for students.  Our goal is to provide teachers with a discretionary fund to support instructional projectw, field trips, professional development, and general classromm improvement.  Creating this fund for our teachers will decrease their out-of-pocket expenses, enhance the quality of their programs, and increase their overall job satisfaction.  Happy teachers make children happy!

Technology:

Improviing student access to technology requires an expansion of the current computer lab or purchasing a mobile computer lab (90 laptops on carts).  Our goal is to have a two-to-one ratio of students to computers at BEAM to support the state technology stardards and offer our students continued access to technology.

Support Special Elective Classes:

BEAM is in need of a music teacher to expose our students to various forms of music.  In the Primary Academy/House, students will begin formal studies in music through singing, playing simple instruments, and listening to a wide range of musical styles from many different cultures.  In the Elementary Academy/House, students wil gain a wide understanding of various musical forms and styles, such as classical, jazz, blues, and rap.

Capital Improvements:

Expanding our present facility is a must, as we will plan to combine two sites and maintain one campus in the future.  It is difficult to assemble as an entire school because we have outgrown our meeting spaces.  Our cafeteria can only seat  270 students at a time.  When we hold special events in the evenings, we typically ask local partners to use their facilities, but the requests cannot always be honored due to scheduling conflicts.  If is our dream to have a space large enough to host school events for our families and the community with appropriate accommodations.
